I obtained my Diploma in Supervision of Counsellors and Therapists in March 2003. This is accredited by the ISPC and The Faculty of Management Science at the London College of Management.
In addition I attend a minimum of 1.5 hours of Supervision every month as required by my governing body. This is supplied by a fully qualified professional supervisor.
The code of ethics I abide by are those of both the:
International Society of Professional Counsellors ISPC)
&
British Association of Counselling and Psycotherapy. (BACP)
The seven generic tasks of supervision are:
- To set up a learning relationship.
- To teach.
- To counsel.
- To consult.
- To monitor professional ethical issues.
- To evaluate.
- To monitor administration aspects of client work.
As your supervisor I will take responsibility for the following tasks:
- monitoring the supervision relationship
- evaluation
- teaching
My expectation of you the supervisee is that you will take responsibility for the consultation and counselling tasks.
We will take share responsibility for the other tasks.
I will create a safe atmosphere for you the counsellor to explore your experience, your difficulties and your doubts.
Each session lasts between 60-90 minutes.
