This technique 'unhooks' the emotion of the experience from the memory so reducing the impact of the memory allowing you to live with it more easily.

This is an effective treatment for:
  • Post Traumatic Shock
  • Traumatic Memories e.g. memories of panic attacks
  • Future experiences that are threatening e.g. public speaking
  • Traumatic flashbacks associated with:
            Physical abuse
            Sexual abuse
            Road accidents
            Extreme violent incidents
            Mugging
            Rape
            Bullying
            Robbery etc.
  • Memories associated with 'life threatening' events
            Road Traffic/ Rail/ Air Accidents
            Witnessing a fatal incident
            Fatal Accidents
            Criminal or Terrorist incidents

PHOBIAS:

Animal type

Natural environment-heights, storm, water etc.

Medical-blood, injections, dentist, hospitals etc.

Situational-aeroplanes, lifts and enclosed spaces

Others-eating in public, public speaking etc.

If you suffer from:
  • A marked and persistent fear that is excessive or unreasonable, cued by the presence or anticipation of a specific object or situation e.g. flying, going to the dentist, receiving an injection etc
  • An immediate anxiety response to the above resulting in a panic attack.
  • Avoidance of certain situations or an endurance of them at great distress to you,

Then this is a very effective therapy and has enabled some people to immediately take back control of their lives.

What Happens During The Therapy Session ?

Once a rapport has been established with the client a relaxation trance is induced giving you, the client, immediate evidence that things can be different.

You will then be asked to access a 'Special Place' that is 'Safe' somewhere within your memory that you enjoyed in the past. This could be a special holiday, garden, room or walk etc. This process mirrors what happens when we begin to drift off to sleep.

You are in control and can disengage safely from this trance if at any time it doesn't feel right for you.

It is in this trance state that emotions are unhooked from the traumatic memory.
